Hi all,I've worked out how to make simple cabviews with alpha for my interurban car. They are pretty basic, but do the trick for now. I'm having problems working out how to add a controller handle, brake handle and an air pressure gauge. Anyone have a simple tute available? If anyone could help me, I'd appreciate it. I'll post pics tomorrow. Thanks for any help Matt A
There are no ready tutorials available (Kuju's is light on and no-one else has the time - LOL!)There are some posts in the Cab forums where several of us have stepped through the requirements for making animated elements so I would recommend a search here.Alternatively, detail what your actual 'difficulties' are and maybe we can give you specific pointers.-------SamSpade-------- ---"Power for You"---
G'day,I've been playing around with the cab ediot and I think I'm getting somewhere, but it is slow. A couple of questions, please forgive my ignorance; I'm trying to pick it up.1) Do I have to do seperate cabs for different resolutions, and if so, does this mean that there is more than one .cvf file?2) Is it better to have a control handle over a transparent background (i.e. above the windowline) or lower, over a solid background?3) Is it better to cut and paste the required gauge background from another .ace and then put the needles on?Sorry if I'm being a nuisance; I'm trying to learn. Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it greatly. All the best Matt A - from sunny Wagga Wagga...
No dramas.1) Do I have to do seperate cabs for different resolutions, and if so, does this mean that there is more than one .cvf file? You only need one cvf file. The correct way to do this is to create two ace files of the front view; one at 640x480 and the other at 1024x768. The second one must have the same name and end with 1024. eg Rustyfrnt.ace and Rustyfrnt1024.aceI don't bother with the 640x480 view because the resolution of the sim is terrible anyway.2) Is it better to have a control handle over a transparent background (i.e. above the windowline) or lower, over a solid background?Makes no difference in my experience.3) Is it better to cut and paste the required gauge background from another .ace and then put the needles on?This cetainly saves time if the gauge is the saem as the one you want. The only thing to watch is use the default units or ASK for permission before you use someone elses. Pinching a gauge from someone else will get you in deep doo-doo but asking to use one usually gets the go-ahead.-------SamSpade-------- ---"Power for You"---
Good stuff. Thanks for the help. I was thinking of using only default stuff, mainly from the Series 2000. I'll be able to give it a go now.Much appreciated, Matt A
