I was wondering if it was possible to use the 3DTrains F7 cab with the TA F7 (Such as the one used for the Silver Streak) and if so how would that be done? I have made attempts at this but must be missing something! Currently I have no cab display when running the Silver Streak. Thanks!
Hi jhayward, found your post yesterday and as no one else did answer, I'll give it a try.First: I don't have the 3DTrain F7 available with Cab and so on, I only have the Demo Version and made it the other way round: using the TA Cab for the 3DTrain Demo F7, and that's quite easy done. So it should be possible to make it your way, but there may be a bit more editing work. I would try the following procedure:1. Rename or Backup the Cabview folder in your engine directory TA_F7_whatever.2. Create a new folder "Cabview"3. Copy the .cvf file from the 3DTrain Cabview folder to this new folder.4. Edit this .cvf file (use WordPad). Now it depends on how this file is "constructed", what you have to do. In short words: You have to add or modify the correct path to each ".ace" file that is addressed in the .cvf file. For example, if there is a line like: CabViewFile ( 3DTrains_F7_front.ace )then you have to modify this line to look similar to this: CabViewFile ( "..\\..\\3DTrains_F7A\\Cabview\\3DTrains_F7_front.ace" )As I mentioned above, I do not have the 3DTrain F7 Cab, so this is only an example, you have to figure out the correct path you are using in your installation and insert that one. This has to be done for each line addressing a ".ace" file (use ctrl + f and search for: ace ), and thus is a bit of work.In case, a default ".ace" is used in some lines, for example: Graphic ( "..\\..\\Gp38\\Cabview\\NeedleBlack.ace" )you don't have to change anything. I hope, this will help.If you have further problems, send me an E-mail. Good luckgerdp gerd.peter@q-l-f.de
Forgot something important:Of course, you have to rename the new .cvf file to the name used in your .eng file under "Cabview", or change this entry in the .eng file accordingly. Otherwise you will have some nasty error messages.gerdp
