Feb-17-02, 01:53 PM (EST) 1. "RE: BNSF SD90MAC'S ?" Sorry guy, only the UP and CP bought any of these. Also the UP bought some SD-90MAC-II's as they are called with the redesigned
nose and windsheilds. They work down here on the Arkansas-Lousianna-Texas chemical traffic. I like them. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-27-02, 11:28 PM (EST) 2. "RE: BNSF SD90MAC'S ?" Cp has lots of them but the 6000hp seem to be junk. Had one with 7000' feet of train and just one unit. Pulled great but it had computer problems and it died out. Lots of power though! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-28-02, 12:41 PM (EST) 3. "RE: BNSF SD90MAC'S ?" There was a blurb in Trains mag (The AlCO issue) a while back about how the RR's are a little suspicious about superhuge, newfangled, ultra computer controled locos.....one of these engines can pull an entire train by itself-good, saves $$$, but if there is the slightest hiccup (send error report to Microsoft?) and the train dies on a mainline, on a yard throat track...you just lost all of you savings from having a single engine on a train, to having 20+ trains backed up/delayed across the system.....so BNSF decided to go w/ more "proven" engine types.Matt
