My brother took this snap shot last year, we finally found it. Anyone else know where this is located, sitting on a side track, rotting away.

Looks like a Rapids series.. Cedar Rapids is on the 261, so that leaves Coon Rapids or Dell Rapids, as Preist Rapids was torched by MILW shop personnel in 1970 and cut up.

I had the link to a site that had pics of that one bookmarked but being an Angelfire site went kaput but I want to say IIRC Dell Rapids rings a bellGary S

Sad to see it in such bad shape. The Skytops (Creek and Rapids series) and the MILW beavertails (Both the 35 and 38 versions) were the classiest looking streamlined observation cars (non domed) on the rails. what other observation car gave you that much glass on the rear end.

Im suprised no rail group has attempted to take that and bring it to a museum.

IIRC the website I reffered to in my other post had noted that the individual(s)or museum that owns it are attempting to restore it and other MILW artifacts.Gary S

It's sad, all right. But even though it's rotting away in a siding, thank god it hasn't been scrapped.-Andy the LRC lover
