RE: Tehachapi Loop Derailment

Lovely. With all the rain we've been having, wonder if they really WILL get things fixed that quickly? And we're supposed to have another solid week of rain here in California.About three weeks ago, BNSF dragged a boxcar on the ground all the way up the Miramar Grade in San Diego, it tore up the switch at the top (CP Cumbres) and because of foul weather, repairs STILL aren't complete and the Surfliners are running with massive delays (yesterday's #565 got to Santa Ana almost an hour late...the day before, it was 50 minutes late...)

I doubt it, I don't think any railroad would delay reconstruction of destroyed track becasue of rain. They may delay if there lightning in the area. The railroad will noway wait a week to make this repair jsut becasue of rain, there is just too much money to be lost.

Chris, it was the south switch, near "our" bluff. I tell you what, we would have had some amazing footage/pictures if we were there!
