RE: Loco's arent the only things pulling trains....

Fairly standard mode of transport in Oz..very impressive and I understand that they travel at a fair rate of knots. Once in their stride they don't like braking !!! hence the size of the 'roo bars at the front (the size of them would indicate that it's not only kangaroos they don't slow down for..!! )Georges

Indeed. I sure hope that the "Road Train" sign is displayed at the rear of that conglomeration as well. Otherwise some poor bloke could be in for a rude surprise trying to pass one.Henry

Yes they do have signs at the rear, although it gets blurry when you pass one at 160-180 Kmh. There are no speed restrictions on the open highways in the Nothern Territory.

While not a road train, there's a short line in Saskatchewan that uses highrail trucks to pull trains. It's the Southern Rail Co-operative, operates 57 miles of track. It is legal in Canada as long as they don't exceed a certain speed limit.

In Alberta, two trailers seems to be most common. Rigs pulling three short trailers can be seen on four lane (and greater) highways such as #2 between Calgary and Edmonton and #16 between Edmonton and Lloydminster. I have never seen more than two trailers in British Columbia and doubt it would be legal there due to the mountains. In Alberta one can pull two trailers with a regular pickup truck IF... 1) the first trailer is a 5th wheel, 2) the second trailer is under 2000 lbs and 3) there is a maximum length allowed but I don't know what it is.Saskatchewan allows two trailers behind a pickup or SUV. Neither have to be a 5th wheel. My 2c for today.

Howdy Wizard!Your 900 is coming along nicely. I’ll be among the first to d/l.One thing, and I realize that this is a work in progress, course it could just be the pix too, but he front fenders look more like Peter-car fenders than KW’s. The 900’s fender has a bit of a side wall to them. Look at the purple 900 (with the old style aero sleeper) that you posted…, you can see how the fender wraps around to the wheel opening. No big deal, just thought I’d mention it.Nice job. How ‘bout a T6 next? A white one, like my last truck.Have a sparkling day,
Bob

Awesome truck model. Those road train things are neat, and look at the size of the fuel tanks on them. Some truck I saw (and heard!) once had an actual train horn on it.

Aah yes, road trains.. the nightmare of anyone driving small, underpowered cars on narrow roads - a nightmare to overtake that is.I tried overtaking one on the Flinders Highway (between Townsville and Mount Isa in Queensland). It consisted of 4 trailers loaded with copper concentrate - took forever to find just the right stretch to get around him.Nice model btw..Steve
