Hey all

Sadly, I am not out of boot camp yet. 6 DAYS to go. We get to go on the net and stuff now that we have passed battlestations. It's a test of 12 hours over a night to see how well you have attained the knowledge that you get taught, including labs of fighting fires, etc. I PASSED, and earned my Navy ballcap. Hope to catch up on what's going on in the TS world. Hope all is well with everyone. I'll chat more after the 17th. Laters,

Well welcome to the world again Chris I graduated from BMT in the Air Force Sept 24th and I have been at tech school since. I wont graduate from tech school till march 25th, training to be a electrician. This includes learning exterior and interior, electrical components and how to install, fix and remove. So far I'm enjoying the teachings, just not the town of Wichita Falls TX!! I always can hear the trains, in my dorm room, even though im like 4 miles from the tracks. What is your job going to be in the navy, i know that there is a lot of navy here on Sheppard AFB. Anyways good luck with the next few weeks, its tuff getting moved again once you start to get settled down. long live the BN

Chris and Mark,
Thanks guys for volunteering to serve the country!
I had 4 years active duty Air Force, mostly spent at Whiteman AFB,Mo. Working on the now defunct MinuteMan II ICBM system.
I got out in '83 as an E-4 Sargeant, something I dont think happens much anymore Mark. I think they usually keep ya at a Senior Airman now, from what I hear.
Then I spent a year from '86 to '87 as pfc and spc-4 in the Army Reserve as a radio operator, just to see what the Army was like..
Have fun guys, and try to make the best of it.
Time will go buy faster than you think, if you are enjoying yourself.

Hey all again, got to come back to the computer again today. I'm going to be an AZ. Aviation Maintainence Admin. I'll be keeping track of the changing of engines, parts, etc on Navy aircraft. Sounds cool. Not much going on here it appears. Looks like Surfliner is not out yet either, so I haven't missed it. Anyone care to kindly update me on what has happened? It would be muchly appreciated. Chris

>Scullery ain't a bad go. It gets you out of doing REAL work. The REALLY bad one is flats party. Unless beer and music are provided of course, and there is compensentory time off.

Wow...Boot camp has changed... Internet Access... WOW... We considered ourselves lucky if we got to make a phone call once a week...Well - I was in during the 80's / 90's when this Internet thing was just starting...That service week was a real bear... Chow hall duty for me... Arrgh...Spent 6 on Subs - only way to fly...Best of luck to you !!!ET1/SS

I'll say - I got ONE phone call during the entire 13 weeks I was in boot camp (1973)! I managed to avoid the galley for service week, worked in the Marine Barracks, taking crap from the jarheads. Oh well, its the "kindler, gentler Navy" nowadays.MMCM (SW)
