RE: Cajon/Tehachapi Questions

Cajon and Tehachapi do have Defect Detector sounds, though I have only heard them once on Cajon. I think you have to be inside the cab to hear it, and if you have a large combination of other sounds, you won't hear the defect detector sounds. I hear them quite a bit on Tehachapi though. As for railfan sites, just do a search on the web. I use to maintain a Tehachapi site, but I don't any longer. You can go to my site though for photos from both areas, just click on the link below, or do a search. www.trainweb.org might have a site or two as well.Chris Bogley

Yeah, Shanes site is pretty cool. I like to think that Curt and myself kind of helped guide Shane into the right direction after he met us up there a while back. He didn't know too much about the area, and joined us on several trips and got to know the lay of the land. Really great kid who has really become a great photographer. Tehachapi recently lost two long time railfans, Ed and Dave, and while the chance to capture SP and ATSF may be long gone, Shane has really worked hard to capture the true feel for the area, and dare I say he might very well be picking up where the late Dave Burton left.Chris Bogley

Thank you Sebastian, Chris.I try to keep my site updated every week with new information towards what I find, although I have kinda been loosing track lately, I am getting back on now. If you have any questions about Tehachapi you can e-mail me as well, as under a few trips with Chris and Curt as well as a few others, we have scoped out and found a large part of this pass and every time we go we learn more and more about it . 3DTrainstuff has done a very nice rendetion of Cajon Pass and Tehachapi Pass for MSTS if you haven't tried them out you should , or at least search the Screenshot forum for a Tehachapi thread, what they have done is quite amazing. Also, if your looking for a Timetable of the route, Altamont has a nice one out. It gives you a nice guide to Tehachapi with Mile post markers, Detector locations, siding lengths, and speed limits for all the route.

RE: Cajon/Tehachapi Questions

They overwrite each other automaticly, you don't do anything. You will only have one folder for each car, even if you get the same car for both routes, as is the case with several cars and engines. Just install both CD's, and your good to go.Chris Bogley

I made a simple timetable to help me out on multi-play sessions for Cajon (BNSF route). I've attached it for anyone to use, it's an Excel file. I hope you find it useful.Cajon/Tehachapi Questions – image 9
