Wait... Some misinformation there....From the Chicago Tribune web site ( www.chicagotribune.com , ) :"A passenger train bound for Los Angeles stopped a burglary in progress Wednesday on the West Side near Cicero, striking and killing one of two alleged thieves who stood in its path, police and Amtrak officials said. The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the fatality as Lonnie Johnson, 46. His address was not immediately available.Misdemeanor theft and criminal trespassing charges were filed against the other man in the accident, Kenneth Rochelle, 46, of the 5200 block of West Gladys Avenue, police spokesman John Mirabelli.Rochelle was not injured, said Capt. Edward J. O'Donnell, watch commander in the Marquette District. The westbound Amtrak train, the Southwest Chief, left Chicago's Union Station at 3:15 p.m. It hit Johnson as he and Rochelle were loading stolen goods into a pickup truck they had parked next to the railroad tracks, police and Amtrak officials said. The train, which hit the truck, was delayed for nearly three hours. The target of the burglary was an auto shop, Automotive Rebuilders Supply, 4401 W. Ogden Ave, just north of the tracks, police said. The men were unarmed, O'Donnell said."They had pulled the truck up and onto the railroad embankment," he said, noting that the men were allegedly trying to steal items from the shop while it was open for business.Marc Magliari, a spokesman for Amtrak, said the engineer pulled the train to a stop about a half-mile away at the Metra station in Cicero. There were no injuries to passengers or crew."C h r i s
Let's see...Amwreck mandatory 5 hour delay plus extra three hours...wow, an 8 hour delay."The F59PHI and Genesis are the lamest excuses for locomotives Amtrak has ever operated - accept it and move on. Hug an F40 before it's too late!""To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt"Ahhh, a mother/daughter bonding over gay porn at lunch - the visions of my youth." -That girl I like too much for my own good
Well, for once Amtrak did something good. Thats one less burglar we have to deal with on the streets. I live on the west side so I am rather thankful for the "service" Amtrak provided for me. LOL.
