IE Explorer Actin Crazy – image 1

I dont know WTF happened, but now my IE explorer started acting crazy. It will freeze up all the time and crash. Whenever a pop up would come up, it would crash. When a ad popped up, it would freeze and when I tried to close it, it would crash. What is going on????
Im using msn explorer right now, and the way its performing, I may stick with it. Im trying to learn the basics of msn right now. One question though, can you use multiple msn explorers like you did IE???
I had some pics I wanted to link here from photobucket, but I cant do it without using two explorer screens. Any help using msn explorer would be great. i am liking it so far. It just makes a clicking noise that gets on my nerves. Thank you for all your help.

I couldn't agree more. Even if you still want to reinstall or try to repair Internet Explorer, use Firefox in the interim. It's essentially my default browser now (Mozilla was getting too bloated and clunky). I only use IE6 when I want videos from MSNBC or a few other sites locked into Microsoft.EDIT: If you run MSCONFIG from Start > Run you will get a Tools menu that has an IE Repair option (at least in 98SE). Have you tried that?RE-EDIT. Sorry, I didn't mean MSCONFIG. I meant System Information (Start > Programs > System Tools).PaulSIE Explorer Actin Crazy – image 5

I have been using Mozilla Firefox for a few months now. Not only does Mozilla deal with popups but it also allows you unlimited concurrent downloads. For some unknown reason, IE only allows TWO downloads at the same time.Cheers,

RE: Mozilla Firefox

>For some unknown reason, IE only allows TWO downloads at the same time. The simple reason for this is because IE is complying with an Internet Standard. The following excerpt is from Microsoft Knowledge base article #282402, which also describes the simple registry change needed to set IE to accept an unlimited number of downloads. "To comply with current Internet standards (Request for Comments 2068), Internet Explorer limits the number of simultaneous downloads to two downloads, plus one queued download."Here is the complete link:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282402(You'll need to cut and paste the link into your address bar.)IE Explorer Actin Crazy – image 7

RE: IE Explorer Actin Crazy

All the clicking in the background is a direct indication of spyware having infested your system. As the others have mentioned, Firefox is the only way to go for sure with IE as backup only. Now, go here http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
for a free (yes he said free) copy of Ad-Aware to remove spyware as you no doubt have now. When installing, be sure to leave the boxes checked for "check for updates" "run a system scan now" and the third which I cannot recall at the moment. You must obviously be on the internet when getting the updates, so be ready. Let it scan, check and remove "ALL" threats, and reboot and repeat the above procedure except skipping the check for updates part. That should clear up most of the issues, then let us know the results and seek further advice if neccesary.Good Luck!SeanK97

Smells like spyware. In fact, my Norton's scan just detected and deleted iun6002.exe which is a piece of spyware that attaches itself to IE search toolbar. Fourtunely, I haven't use the search feature and the registry key was clean. In addition, the Leaches from the Motion Picture Association of America yesterday annouces that they are developing a piece of spyware that can snoop through your computer hard drive and report back if it finds any music or movie files or any installed file sharing programs. Kind of like having the police snooping on your property without a search warrant when no body is home to see what you might have that they could determine that is illegal on your property.SRV Ron

Go to the Norton's website. In fact, NAV will take you to the write up on that spy ware with a set of removal instructions and what to look for in the registry by going to the quarantine log.In my case, the entries were not there.Further cleanup with Norton's system tools got rid of the last traces of the reference. The nasty critter probably got in because Norton's had not yet been updated to detect and block it.Actually, if I were having problems, I could have restored the system to last week's settings with Ghost as I let the scan run prior to doing the Ghost backup of the C drive.SRV Ron
