There was a derailment in Chilhowie, VA early this morning. (I live in Glade Spring, VA which is 5 miles west of Chilhowie) I don't know any details on how it happend. I didn't get to ride up there until 7 p.m. It was dark then and the wreck had been cleared by then. Also, the wreck was not in a very accessable place. A crew was repairing the tracks and I saw the ballast train go through. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else knew any details.

The abandoned car over the side of The Carrizo Gorge route was a Coors beer car. Many Imperial valley 4 Wheelers made it to the very rough and remote location for free refreshments.
