Did you check to see if the media is scratched?
I'd do that
Plus even though I don't have a DVD burner, I use CD's to back everything up. And I still have them. and they work. I would not have spent 80 bones on software unless it was neccessary. that was kind of unwise as I could use the 80 to get somethign else. But I feel your frustration. Hell I'd be ------ off if that happened. But then again downloading all of them again takes alot of time. Oh I forgot bad firmare would do it as well. Either that or the firmware is corrupted, you'd have to know the model of your DVD burner. I had to fix mine recently could not read digital audio, that was an easy fix without the firmwarebut check itDr. SatanI'm otherwise known as the SatanTrain

Hi Marko,I have no idea whether it will work or not, but I have a program called OnTrack Easy Recovery (www.ontrack.com) that is really good at extracting data off bad disks. It allowed me to recover data from a reformatted drive - and it was all intact. It's supposed to work on bad floppies, CD's and so on, too, although I've never tried it there.I have no way of knowing whether or not it will work on this disk or not, but if you want to mail it to me (or make a copy and send that), I'll be willing to give it a try. I won't promise anything, but in all actuality, what have you got to loose? If you want to, send me an e-mail at home: whiterabbit28@comcast.net and we'll discuss this further.Edited for typo.Larry Steiner

RE: Help with bad disc?

marko, STOP!!! DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE!!! Did you try using another drive to access the disk in? Perhaps closing the session on another DVD drive (that you know works) may solve the problem! Perhaps the drive itself and not the media failed. Does your software see the drive? Did you try writing test data to another disk (with the Sony drive)? Good Luck! I hope one of my suggestions works! It could save you some aggravation! Let me know how you make out!GG1-2332

RE: Help with bad disc?

Marko,May I suggest trying a recovery program called CDROLLER. I had the same thing happen a few years ago on a CD and this program found all of the multisession files. The free download will allow you to scan your corrupt CD or DVD for recoverable files. License key is required then to recover the files. The license key is $29.50 which includes three years of upgrades. Check it out at www.cdroller.com. Good Luck.Terry

RE: Help with bad disc?

Many thanks to all posters with their reccomendations, but as luck has it, At a family and friends function last week, I met a friend of a friend who is a CPA accountant with a worldwide firm, and during discussion we got talking computers, and apparently these firms send out their bad disks to professionals for repair, so i was stoked when was offered a free repair thru this mans company.1 week later, 1x new DVD with all my stuff intact. WOW!
Im reverting back to the good ole reliabe CD in future!thanks all for replies.

RE: Help with bad disc?

Marko,That is indeed good news! Your were lucky to get the free professional recovery. But you did get some good alternative advice that other people not so fortunate (or well-connected) should keep in mind. I don't know about CDRoller, but I did use On-Track software when I managed a Novell network some years back, and their recovery programs were very goodPaulSHelp with bad disc? – image 2
