Hi all. Just a quick question. When adding ram of different size values in my puter does it matter what size goes where in the 3 available slots ? I have 3 sticks of different size. Should they be placed high to low or low to high or does it matter? Thanks in advance for any info.Brian Hickey
I agree with Derek, the rule of thumb has always been the highest capacity in the first slot and then work down.

Where you put them does not really matter, speed is what matters, unless you have a board like mine that requires the last pair to be the same. Mine has 4 sockets.
The placement does matter on some boards, and is due to the chip size on the memory modules. It is to do with address boundaries. If you have say a 64Mb and a 512Mb card, if you place the 64Mb card in front of the 512Mb card, there may be a hole in memory due to the 512 card not being able to operate on a 64Mb boundary.
