This isn't breaking news, but yesterday a Metro North electric running southbound on the Harlem line struck an autorack truck that was stuck on a grade crossing. 911 was called beforehand, but the dispatcher only got word of the stalled truck one minute before the train reached the crossing. Service is now back to normal on all lines.

He only got stuck because he was trying to make a U-turn on the tracks. When he realized that he couldn't move, he didn't call 911, he called a tow truck. The tow truck called 911. That's why that driver is under arrest. STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!
The guy was from Colorado, so he probably didn't know his way. John, someone from the NYCTBA forums got word that the Arnines are going to run in revenue service on the F line, Sat and Sun, leaving Second Ave at 10AM.
I think Thunderbolt just means don't be so fast to be the judge, jury and executioner.I agree he should have called 911 first but $hit happens and thankfully no one was killed. Have you ever made a bad decision or are you perfect?

I agree, and I'm very happy that nobody was killed. But you have to look at the fact that inocent people simply going to work, home, etc were hurt because some truck driver put saving his truck above averting a disaster. Since grade school, what were we taught to do when we had an emergency?... call 911! And yes, like everybody, I do make mistakes and judgement errors. Lets hope that somebody can learn from this mistake so some good come out of it. Then, it won't be as much of a disaster if it can prevent future accidents.
