The new GM/EMD GP20D all I can say is UGLY!!
http://www.gmemd.com/en/locomotive/switcher/gp20d/Looks like an one of the old RS1325s. There were only two built, in 1960, and they were purchased by Chicago & Illinois Midland (C&IM)

It's not that new either. That's virtually the same as Morrison-Knudson's MK1500D, first built in 1996 (although they had built a similar LNG-powered version in 1993).EMD's version features a CAT prime mover (3516) and up-to-date EMD electronics, as well as an EMD nametag.DanAbsolute power corrupts absolutely.

Equivelent to a GP38-2......................?I think they are excluding the old L&N ones with vertical mount nose lights, RS5TRRO horns, and a nice rusty application of Family Lines paintDude, I'd hate to see CSX slap a few of those on the K95*s-Jeffrey.

I'll complete the sentance for you Adam...Its not that ugly! Better than those Dammed ACe's!!I actually quite like the GP20D's! Modern Switchers at long last!! Those MK1500D's on the PTRA of Houston are really good looking!! Clean, comfortable, reliable. >Mike Forster<

RE: GP20D

BNSF has one of these or something very like it. I work almost across the street from the BNSF Interbay locomotive facility and there was one by the engine service shed for several days. From a distance it looks kinda like a slug with a cab glued on at one end. I should have gotten the BNSF road number from it while it was in.Brad Meyer

RE: GP20D

I suppose NG would explain the lack of visable exhaust stacks. When I saw it, the body seemed only about as high as the "short nose" on an EMD, was without any visible service doors or access panels along the sides, and had no exhaust stacks. Strange looking beastie.Brad Meyer
