Jan-30-02, 12:47 PM (EST) "What RR Do You Use For Sim." What RR and era is your sim D/L's based on. Mines is the SP/SSW around 1994/1995 before the UP merger. I also have the SSW 819
for my passenger trains. Back when "railroading was fun" Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-30-02, 03:42 PM (EST) 2. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." Of course, Illinois Central Gulf/Illinois Central, anytime from the 1970's to the 1990's, primarily. I guess now that includes Canadian National, too, but I don't like it as much as the IC/ICG stuff.troub

Whatever it was called...

Jan-30-02, 10:48 PM (EST) 4. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." I'm a "modern" extemist!I prefer running the sd70's,sd75's,sd60's,Ge c44-9's,preferably in BNSF scheme,UP,CSX,CN,CP,NS,CR,BN.I run sd40-2' & sd45's also.I'm not a big fan of passenger,so i just have them on my hard drive.I run steam now & then,but Diesel rules!!!As far as Rolling stock goes...it's Intermodel,Coal(Bethgons)Road railers,Autoracks,occasional mixed consists(boxcars,tankers,misc.) Jan-31-02, 11:21 AM (EST) 5. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." I prefer modern (last 20 years) freight equipment/operations in the Western United States. I use primarily UP, BN, BNSF, SP for power and just about anything for rolling stock.I have been a model railroader for about 25 years and have always preferred to model roads and equipment that I see around me in my daily life. I lived in Idaho for 17 years, hence UP/SP. I have lived in Portland, OR for last 14 years and here I see a lot of UP/BN/BNSF plus a local freight company called "Willamette and Pacific RR." Jan-31-02, 03:13 PM (EST) 6. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." This is Easy;
The New York New Haven and Hartford...... and successors/assigns... LOL!
(Alpert and McGinnis were agents of the Devil!)
Followed by the PRR All electrified of Course
The PC was a disaster... Of course when CR got their act
together the Gov't stepped in and divested them selves and FUBARed it again.....
Any doubts about what will happen if ARC has their way.... Chek out the CR divestature......
For Diesel Freight I love CSX and NS....
Course right now I'm driving Turbines all over Marias 3.0 with 50 car trains....------Chuck Schneider---------

Feb-01-02, 02:11 AM (EST) 8. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." With a handful of notable exceptions, I prefer motive power and rolling stock that would be typically seen on the routes currently available for the game, past as well as present. As far as time periods are concerned? Hey, it's all good IMHO. However if forced to choose a favorite it would HAVE to be the transition era! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-09-02, 07:30 PM (EST) 15. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." Guilford Rail (MEC)..I'm using modern units (the largest they have here is an SD45, only one, and that's for Springfield Terminal. Haven't seen it yet; only GP35's, GP38's, GP40's, and U28B's..Supposedly they have Switchers at the Waterville station; but I haven't seen any; and it's right outside my window here.Actually, i thought i saw one two years ago; hauling supplies out of the shop (probably moving trucks and stuff down to Augusta); but it looked more like a Slug than a Switcher, and it was in the distance. -------------------------------------------------------
Hauling cars is fun; but crashing them is even better.-Darkfyre Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-02-02, 09:31 AM (EST) 11. "RE: What RR Do You Use For Sim." Well, being a Calif. guy, mostly pre-merger SF, SP, and UP. Although because of all the great reskins available from you talented folks, I got a pretty good cross-section of other roads too. This morning I'll be running my newly acquired CP SD-90's over a snowy Marias. I'm a 95% freight guy.
