Jan-28-02, 10:07 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Modeling program" Unless you have alot of 3d experience and plan to use the program for 18 other sims, I'd go with Train Sim Modeler (TSM). It may be on store shelves already wherever you are, or is planned to be, but you can also order it online. It's cheap ($30), it's easy, and it does a full export to MSTS with few or no difficulties. Alternatively is 3d Studio Max which is more versatile, but harder to use, and it costs 5 kijillion dollars.-Andy

Jan-29-02, 00:14 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Modeling program" Also, more advanced and powerful than TSM, but (in my opinion) more intuitive and easier to model in, is 3DCanvas. It exports directly to the MSTS shape file format, with automatic creation of distance levels, and loads of other great features. It costs about $60, and you can find it (and a gallery of objects created with it), at http://www.amabilis.com .troub

Feb-02-02, 03:46 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Modeling program" I'll second that motion for 3D Canvas. If it is still included, just run through the tutorial, it will quickly teach you the basics and it is easy to learn the rest from there. It also now includes an MSTS wizard!------ BUZZ ------

Jan-29-02, 06:29 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Modeling program" I've only use Train Sim Modler and it seems to work fine but it doesn't do eveything I would like it to. I can't speak about the others....but unless you get someone else to skin for you...you still have to come up with a "paint job" for you model.Don Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
