I think it's better to have them both turned off. I'm not sure about this. See here if this may help you; http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=15990&forum=DCForumID3&archive= Ken Plaza Anisotopic & Antialiasing – image 5

>Raildriver needs them turned off. I've run 4x FSAA with my Raildriver on both a Radeon 9700 Pro, and x800 Pro. No problems. 6x starts to hunt a bit. Maybe the problem is nVidia cards?>nVidia cards will slow down with them,
>ATI cards generally will not. FSAA will also slow down ATI cards. Aniso doesn't have much effect. FSAA does have less impact on my x800 Pro than my 9700 Pro, but it still slows them down.-Jeff

I did, and I got this;
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77It doesn't show what Video Cards are supported. How am I supposed to know I'm not downloading a driver for a card I don't have? Does it support ALL GeForce Video Cards from mine to the latest? I need to know.-BeaverMon, AKA Ben-

I can't find any E-MAIL support on their site (like their saying "figure it out yourself!").Alright, I'll download it and hope for the best. Maybe it'll make MSTS run faster.
Unfortunally it's not zipped up (it's an .exe). I have to install it just to make sure it's going to work.Crud!!!! ....

BeverMon
I am also running a FX 5200. And I am using the 61.77 driver. The card works a lot better. And I also downloaded the new DirectX 9c runtime, which helps more.
The frame rates are a little higher and much smoother.
Good Luck. Of course, the choice is yours, but the new driver really helped, the card that I have.Roger

The message is a generic one that appears anytime you install a driver that is not Microsoft certified, it means nothing. Most of the newest video drivers aren't certified yet, they all show this message.Anisotopic & Antialiasing – image 12

>Nvidia G4 Ti4200. Who runs with it and who runs without it. MSTS visually appears MUCH better with both options enabled. Using AA will lower your fps some, most notable on a combination of slow hardware and limited video card.On a decent system with a good video card, most definitely worth the difference in visual quality. The ability to use these options is one of the main reasons for having a good video card and fast system.I keep my system on 16x AF and 4x FSAA, the graphics are awesome. With MSTS you have to use a command line switch like the following to start MSTS:"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\train.exe" /fsaa /anisotropic You also need to set up your video card with the desired settings.Anisotopic & Antialiasing – image 13

I would personally use Anisotropic at all times, and then experiment with FSAA.Anisotropic filtering takes out blur on textures at a distance... if you're noticing this alot, turn it on some. Your fps will take a small hit mind you... but the image quality is alot better.FSAA smooths out jagged models. Personally, I don't really notice it at all when its on... yet it kills my framerate... so I just turn it off.When I finally get around to getting that Radeon 9800... I should be able to run train sim with both on full and get respectable performance. One of ATI Radeon's strong points is running with both enabled and keeping performance up. Nvidia cards seem to have trouble with it... at least the FX series do.
