Hi Brad.Well I've just followed Chris's "helpful" advice and looked at a map and checked on the TS Cascades map and Drain is not listed. I have also thoughtfully provided a map of Oregan with Drain marked out: it appears to be on another branch line: any pics anyone? Mike

Thanks Dale.I would imagine if that line ran through the Siskiyoo mountains, then you would get some pretty gorgeous scenery, as it's home to the Brewer's spruce or weeping spruce only found in the Siskiyoo mountains. Anyone got any pics?Mike

>Mike The Siskiyou line is very steep and scenic. With grades topping out around 3% and plenty of tunnels, bridges, and semaphore signals. The line is also a through route, which leaves the main line in Eugene and rejoins it in Black Butte, California. SP leased the line in 1994 to a short line called Central Oregon and Pacific. They now operate the Siskiyou line and the Coos bay branch.
FWIW: The Siskiyou line was SP's original and only access to Oregon from California. This changed when they built the Natron Cut-off (aka Cascade Crossing/ Willamette pass)in the 1920's.
Check out Joe Fugate's site for his nice model of the line: siskiyou.railfan.net
