Between Red Eagle and Conkelly I hit this hill and I can not get over it. It is raining so I tried sand but that didnt work. the train comes to stop with 100% throttle and then starts rolling backward. Is the train out of fuel I have only traveled 40 miles?
To find out your fuel status, press F5 once or twice (can't remember which) - this puts that Heads-Up Display on the screen. The HUD shows the amount of fuel left in the loco. Can't help you with the main question. What activity or what consist are you running? I've been through there with other trains and had no problems.
Not knowing what is in your consist, I would suggest adding more egines. You can either use the Activity Editor or download ConBuilder from the file library. While you are there download the file basics.zip , this will give you a listing of tools that are available as freeware. If you need more help, we will need more information.Cyndi
That activity is almost impossible. You are not out of fuel, if you were the activity would end. Here's what I did: I added two engines to the back of the engine with the consist editor. Then I played that activity again, and before I got to Red Eagle I gave it full throttle, and turmed on the sander. If the wheels start to slip , reduce the throttle and raise it until it starts to slip, then reduce the throttle, and then raise the throttle to the notch before the one the wheels started to slip on. You will barely make over the hill. Also, be careful when you get to the tunnels, your cars can derail even if you're below the speed limit, because there's a lot of sharp turns

RE: Whitefish Freight Pullout
Almost Impossible? I got it on the second try. If you get a red in Belton (accually East Glacier) about a half a mile out of town, stop in the middle of town, next to the siding. When the light turns green, a half a mile ahead of you, then you throttle up to run 8.BTW, I'm assuming that the hill your talking about is the one West of Belton, just after you come out of town and when you get to the other side the lake is on the left.-Dave
If you are running Marias Pass default, the grades are very unrealistic. Version 3.1 will give you much more realistic grades. If you want to stay in the default, and don't want to alter the consist, try doubling the hill. If you can get into a siding, cut off half your train, take it into the next siding beyond the problem hill, and go back and get the other half, then rebuild your consist. Another option is to add some helper units on the back of the train, then cut them off after the hill. Hope this helps, Bob Boudoin
