A few pics from Cape cod( 56K Warning )

I took a few pics on the Cape Cod Central railroad over the weekend.My wife and I went on the scenic train on Thursday,then we did the Dinner train on Saturday night. Its a very nice couples dinner and a fantastic 5 course meal in a nice dining car. Well enjoy.

I would say that's a RS-3M, rebuilt with an EMD engine in it, so really a EMD in an Alco shell.

On their site they have pics of these locos prior to life with them. The Alco has seen several different roads including Amtrak.

It still looks a little like a RS-3, they just chopped the short hood for visibility and made the long hood taller for the bigger EMD engine.

That looks like the PC/ Conrail version of an RS3-M. They took the engine out of an old loco and put it in the RS3 body, made the long hood taller for the bigger engine and used EMD style fans and stacks.

It is. It used to be the Altoona switcher, then HRRC bought it in the late 80's or early 90's. Now it's just sitting there at the shops in Canaan.-Dave

Wonder if they they didn't like the MLW (or any Alcos with the original engine) because the smoke didn't mix well with the food? I think this same train showed up in a Food Network special on dining on the rails a while back, anyone else catch it? The same show had the Napa Valley Wine train too.Mr. F

Ill tell you one thing. They do put on a nice spread. The food was excellent as was the service.
