The Reroute of a Lifetime! The Fantrip of a Lifetime! – image 1

In what has become the most anticipated set of reroutes in recent subway history, the G train (Brooklyn-Queens Crosstown) has been extended to Stillwell Avenue Coney Island the following times:
Weekend, 12:01 AM Sat to 5 AM Mon, Jul 10 - 12, 17 - 19 & 24 - 26
This is the photo opportunity of a lifetime, especially during the latter two weekends, when a set of Brooklyn Union Elevated gate cars made in the 19th Century runs 4 charity fantrips with the R1/9 museum cars. There is the possibility that the gate cars will run separate from the R1/9s once the train exits the subway in Brooklyn. At least one (probably two) of these trips will go to Stillwell Avenue Coney Island and possibly run the Culver Line with the extended G service. The G (formerly the GG) has never run alongside gate cars and probably never will again.

Now how are we supposed to get photo when photos of NYC Subways will get you put in jail for a year or so. They now think everyone who take photos is a terrorist.

>think everyone who take photos is a terrorist. Well Maybe that's because the last couple of "railfans" they caught taking pix of subway and train facilities in NYC were terrorists, eh?Oops, I mean "security officers" for the Iranian UN mission...

First of all: That regulation has not been passed.
Second of all:
Amendment VIIn all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense. Third of all: No one has been arrested, tried, or convicted. It would be an embarassment for the MTA to actually take someone to trial over something like that.Fourth of all: You would probably be with a whole crowd of people doing the same thing. During fantrips or very strange reroutes, it is common for people to be taking pictures along the route. This reroute would only affect southern Brooklyn on an ELEVATED section of the Culver line. Also, seeing as I am a New Yorker, I know more about this situation then people from outside of New York. And by the way, when you say "They now think everyone who take photos is a terrorist." you sound really ignorant and stupid. Don't say things that you don't know. If you do that, you won't gain anything; you'll just lose a good amount of credibilty.

Sorry about the about late response to this thread as I had limited access to the Internet for the past few days, because I was on vacation to Nashville, Chattanooga, Pigeon Forge, and Branson. Yea, I agree with what you said. But I do believe that some people believe what I said up here, so they try to make photography illegal for their safety (thinking that these people who do the photography are planing on doing some terrorism). I have heard stories of people (one of them that posted on this site) being taken off the streets here in the USA while taking photos of things and being interrogated in a cement room without any windows. I would hate that to happen to me, I am a bit confused or I am liable to make the wrong decision on what to do if I was interrogated. This is why I am a bit paranoid about it.I sure hope this photography ban doesn't pass, if it does we are all in trouble. This law will not stop me from taking pictures of trains, subways, or anything else I decide to take pictures of. I hope to see some subway photos of this soon. Maybe one of my future trips to St. Louis, I can do some photography of the Metrolink Trains and show them to you guys.
