I say good for him, although to tell you the truth, I'm a bit surprised at the amount,in these days of people being awarded millions for trivial garbage that shouldn't get into the courts in the first place. It says on paper that everyone is equal, but there is still a ways to go. Hopefully, there is some improvements going on in Amtrak's management over this. cheers,

Yeah, I agree.If someone can sue McDonalds for millions because they didn't know the coffee was hot, $500,000 isn't much for something legitimate.But I'm glad he at least got something out of it. It shows some things are still working in the messed up legal system.-Jeff

Still, I wonder what he lost over those 10 years. That's a long time to deal with a life draining issue - not to mention that I'm sure his attorney will receive a good-sized chunk of the settlement.Cheers!

Well from what by buddies tell me it isnt near as bad as it used to be, but there are still a few bad apples out there that still hold on to old tactics. Thats anywhere you go.

I had a friend that worked for Amtrack down at Chicago's Union Station about 10 years ago until he was finally bumped down so far on senority(due to cutbacks and union rules) that he left Amtrack.
He said the one thing he did not miss was dealing with some of the african american employees that tried to turn everything into a racial issue(though acording to him few and far between)and the contigent of skinhead/nazi/klan a$$holes(his term)that figured since he was white he was "one of them"(not freaking likely)trying to recruit him.
so apparently there are bad apples on both sides.Gary S

I agree there are bad apples on both sides. Where I work at, it is one of the most racially divided workplaces. Dont think that I am not looking for another job. Me myself I am sick and tired of it. I have a child by a white girl (one of three). And it can get rough sometimes. But its gonna be ok. The only color I see is green $$$$
But lets all get back to train simming

It amazes me how some people can be like that, did the supervisor get let go?? if not he should have, cause his ignorance just cost the railroad $500,000. I know this is a railroad forum, so I don't want to go off the deep end All I'm going to say, SSW_96, don't let the ignorant people get you down. I do know what you are going thru, and I pray that someday soon it will get better. My daughter use to get teased a lot in school, cause she is half white, half Filipino. To me she is the best daughter a father could ever hope for Just remember, anyone who would put you or your family down, has a very low opinion of themselves. I know it is very hard to do, cause there were times I wanted to kick some serious butt, but let it go. I use to tell my daughter, they have the problem not us, and that is the truth.Take care,
