SD100? Whats that, EMD's answer to the GEVO? And why is it one of the few remaining C39-8Es?

Cool shots! I don't know why SP is a favorite railroad, 'cause I'm in the Northeast and the SP, Rio Grande and SSW is out west...
The Susquehanna acquired some of SP's Tunnel Motors, but I just can't seem to get out of the comforts of my Queensborough home, get on the Metro-North, upstate and try to catch them. I'm not even sure where to look...MTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004Check These Pics Out – image 12

To ASR: Yeah it got pretty nasty. I thought the wind was gonna blow my car over. I have the resolution set to superfine which with my current memory car will only give me about 15 shots. Im glad you all liked my shots. I try to improve with every shot I take and I do appreciate you alls compliments and encouragemnt.

"I have the resolution set to superfine which with my current memory car will only give me about 15 shots."That resolution is working well for you!Grab another (larger) memory card when you're able and you'll be shooting at will, and deleting the duds on the road in your downtime between action.Well done!John Roth

It's a great little camera. I have one to. I take it with me all the time to take pictures of trains on Surfline from LA-San Diego. I'm still learning how to use it though.

Thanks for sharing these. It's always nice to see a different part of the country. It also reminds me that it's been too long since I went down to the local yard and watched some trains...

Ah someones just being silly. But seriously I dont know why. A waste of logos if you ask me, all they do is take em off when they get repainted.

RE: Check These Pics Out

HeHe... I like that one even better! Made me laugh. Especially where the last car stopped! Only a railfan could enjoy that view. We have a grade like that around here that sometimes catches them short of power. There's miles of desert, then a bit of a hump with a yard on the other side. The grade isn't much, but with the speed restriction just on the other side, it high centers many long and lean trains they tried to limp across the desert. Luckily, the yard can usually help out, but it'll usually take them an hour or so to get moving again. -Jeff

RE: Check These Pics Out

You asked what that one thing is, it's a track sweeper.Basically, it works by passing powerful magnets over the tracks on a conveyor. These magnents pick up all (and I mean ALL) loose metal from the rails and roadbed, and then transfer them up and back into the two cars it pulls. Now, the cool thing is, it can be transported by highway. They lower those road wheels, pull a truck in behind, and bingo, it's a truck trailer now.

In order to obtain their rights for Rio Grande Equipment the UP should paint that tunnel motor.-MattATSF GP60M #104 works on the local in Flagstaff, AZ.
