Since June 13, I've sent four emails from the tech support web site asking for assistance. ANo one has responded. If any Raildriver folk frequent this site, please email or pm.Subject: Failing forward/reverse switchThanks Craig kawahara (aka ckawahara)
I thought I heard Tim Court (raildriver tech support person) is on vacation this week and next. That could explain why you have yet to get a reply.engine999 2nd place in "Amtrak Along the Tracks" contest
Hello all:Thanks everyone for adding your thoughts. I guess no one at Raildriver visits this forum (or at least not during the time frame of this post.) Yes, up to now they have always been very prompt in returning queries. Guess between their new development and people of vacation, priorities get reshuffled. As to recalibrating, I do not think that the detent for the neutral position is controlled by the software. I have to fiddle back and forth to get the neytral location to work.Guess I will have to tray a new and novel concept, telephone. Thanks all.Craig
Craig,Did you get your question answered yet? I work with Tim Court and at the moment, since coming back from vacation, has been swamped with tech calls and other work here at P. I. Engineering.....If you wish, I would be more than willing to help you and pass along the message...Is that Ok?-Tim Lewis ("Raildriver's" very own "Train Troll")
Hee-hee, poor Tim is gonna need a vacation to recover from his vacation."As to recalibrating, I do not think that the detent for the neutral position is controlled by the software."I don't know where you got that idea, the reversing lever is notched for the diesels and linear for steam, and does indeed need to be recalibrated occasionally. The throttle parameters in the .eng file for whatever engine you're running also has an effect on this. If you're having to hunt for neutral you should first try recalibrating to let the software know where neutral is. Second item is forcing Anisotropic Filtering and/or FSAA, I have a Radeon 9700 and force 4x FSAA and 4X Anisotropic, and I get away with that much at 1024x768x32. Any more than that and Raildriver's independent brake starts to hunt since it has trouble reading the F5 hud. Last thing (most unlikely cause) is the .eng file itself, if it's a steam engine look in the \PI Engineering\RailDriver\engine folder for sample .eng files;Cutoff ( -0.89 0.89 0.01 0 NumNotches( 3 Notch(-0.89 1 Dummy) Notch(0 1 Dummy) Notch(0.02 1 Dummy) ) )for the 380, and;Cutoff ( -0.55 0.75 0.01 0 NumNotches( 3 Notch(-0.55 1 Dummy) Notch(0 1 Dummy) Notch(0.02 1 Dummy) ) )For the scotsman both work fine, any add-on steam engine that has been super customized might need to have those numbers adjusted to work correctly.
