Locomotive boneyards – image 1

I think this was posted before, but it may have been deleted because a quick search brings up nothing. Are there any locomotive boneyards reasonably close to Minnesota or somewhere in the southwestern USA not west of Arizona where someone can go there and pick up parts, preferably from steam engines? I need the train brake handle from an Alco steam locomotive.

RE: locomotive boneyards

That's a very specific part. Is your Alco steamer missing it? Joe LeMay

It was goiing to be a donation to the museum in Wilmington, NC for the missing part - must make up for hot arguments.

RE: locomotive boneyards

What kind of handles were you looking for? I think I am going to have some K14 handles reproduced. I think it will be very hard to find anything at a scrap yard. The handles were brass and usually the first thing to go. I had to beg for the “masters” for my reproduction and that deal is still not for sure. Michael

These handles were going to be for the type 8ET train brake valve.
