I have tried both. I haven't been able to even get TRS2004 to work. On the other hand I have MSTS with hundreds of locomotives and cars, along with almost two dozen routes. I am happy with MSTS and it seems to be the biggest train sim out there, with some of the biggest communities I've seen.
There is no best, they each have atributes.Trainz has the feeling of a model layout. MSTS is trying to be a simulator of the real thing.Unfortunately trains are not interchangable.
