I might be wrong, but 2099 was one of the first locomotives to be REPAINTED(!!) into H1 colour scheme. Before then, there were some new C44-9W's in H1 and H2 paint. >Mike Forster< Perth, Western Australiapacificnational_nr103@hotmail.com http://www.trainweb.org/aussiepix
>What's the deal with BNSF painting the trucks, frame, and >fuel tank green on some locomotives and silver on others? The ones with the green trucks/tanks are "Heritage 1" paint scheme which willbe applied to all standard nose locomotives. The silver trucks/tanks are part of the "Heritage 2 " paint scheme that is going to be on all wide-nose units.

But you'll note that both the GP38-2s in those photos are H1, yet one has silver trucks while the other has green trucks...Jonathan Nikiforovs. Milepost 180, CP Belleville Sub.Repainter for Yonder Locomotive Works.

I would imagine that a lot of it would have to do with what particular contractor painted the engine. If you look at the 2nd unit you'll notice that the yellow band actually wraps around the nose. That first you can see spaces where the painter got lazy and just left it off. Chris S. BNSF Conductor
