Hey everyone, I know that there is someone out there that knows something about the automatic or train brakes and how they work. The locomotive is an ancient GP9 that was built in 1955. The original puchesor was Northern Pacific which was enveloped into the BN era. This locomotive is still is service today on the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad turist line. This past fall we sent in the brakestand that controles the train brakes. It worked fine before we sent it in but we wanted to get it checked anyway. We got it back about a month and a half later and reinstalled the stand. It hasn't worked properly since. We have called up the company about it and the say that its not the stand thats wrong b/c they checked it on their tester machine. We have been checking every valve we can find under the floor of the cab and it will work about 5 to 10 times right after we put the valve back on. Then its right back to not working right. The problem is that when we take a regular service application, the air runs out of the equalizing resevior but the brake pipe pressure doesnt equilize with the E.R. We have checked the P2A valve that is suppose to do this equilizing but it is in working condition. I just though I'd run this through your brains to see if you guys could come up with anything.Steven
