Hi all!In July I'm going to visit Guelp, Ontario for two weeks. Searching the web I came across the "Guelph Junction Railway" connecting the city of Guelph with the CP mainline in Guelph Junction and operating a couple of MLW's. Now I have three questions:1. Is this railroad still operating?2. If it is, does it still use MLW's?3. And again, if it does, does anybody know the times when trains are running on this line? Or good train spotting locations?Any information would be great, I'd really love to see some 251-powered engines in action!Thank you very much.------------------------------ Jan
I think it is called the Ontario Southern Railroad now, or something like that. I did see one unit and it was an oldy for sure. I don't know exactly what it was but they were also using a caboose. They exchange with the CP there and their engine is stored there overnight. Most of the action will be CP though. The Milton Line GO trains are all stored there. Trains heading down to Hamilton will cut off the Galt and go down the Hamilton sub. The London Turn works GJ as does the Guelph Junction Turn, plus all the mainline freights which should be about 20-35 a day. I would recommend going from about 2pm to about 7, then you get see both Turns, all the GO trains come in and OSR action aswell, plus mainline stuff. Email me if you like and I can give you more info.
Might be a little late, but.. 1: Yes 2: YES! M420W's, RS18's, S13's to name some. 3: LOTS of great spots and it is so easy to chase them. They have to slow down at almost every xing and there is an xing at least 1 per mile. Great locations and interesting scenery. No idea when they operate tho Sorry.
Trains are ordered for 0800 Monday to Friday at Guelph Jct.From there they work their way into Guelph. Sometimes if you are lucky, you can catch Goderich-Exeter and OSR swapping interchange in the northwest corner of the city. Actual times vary, depends on how much work they have to do on the way.Jan contact me via PM with your email, I might be able to help out, I do know a fair number of guys that work the line.Jon
