RE: Tyco help! My Shark dont work!

Suggestion 1: Dont by Tyco Trains out of an Antique shop
Suggestion 2: Dont by Tyco Trains in general
Suggestion 3: The Contact strip, or wires, are old and corroded, and therefore, do not carry enough power to the engine to make it move. Tyco trains, as far as I know, generated very little power.

I must agree with the other comments, Don't waste your money on Tyco products. They were poor performers at best, usually with only one truck being driven and not all wheels picked up electricity. They had half decent detail on the shells, but that is about the only positive thing I can say about them.take care,
Rich S.

Athearn makes EXCELLENT locomotives if your in HO scale. They're about the cheapest you can go befoer good quality is gone. If your aiming for higher performance, Athearn Genesis, Atlas, and Kato make excellent models with smooth performance, DCC plugs (the Atlas have the dual-mode DCC decoder already in them), constant directional lighting, separate details, crisp paint jobs, and everything else a good model will have. You can't find the fancy features in a Tyco (Tyco? What the hell were you thinking?) trainset from Toys R' Us (I'm sorry if the "R" is backwards).

Tyco's are toy trains that don't break the bank like Lionel. My Dad did N-scale,I got Tyco trains to launch off the end of the table. It's a good first train set, that's about it.Then I grew up to launch Kato trains off the end of the table. Those 1st generation N-scale Atlas/Kato RS3's and RS11's could really fly!

Well, you know, spit happens! Those Atlas/Kato N-scale were capable of both extremely slow running and very high top speeds.}>

RE: Tyco help! My Shark don't work!

I bought that Tyco shark because i wanted a shark and didnt want to pay a lot. Im only 16, I dont have piles of money to buy quality locomotives and freight cars.(BTW: I need help with an Athearn SD-9. The engine works but shakes violantly while traveling down the thacks. It used to not do that.)

The engine shouldn't scrape the shell if it is seated properly inthe motor mounts. If the motor is touching the shell you will probably hear vibration noises coming from it.
