Cross-posted from Flightsim.com (Continental737) by me:
Just something to remember the 40th president of the United States. I was born late in his administration, so it hit me pretty hard. So here is a US Airways Shuttle at Ronald Reagan National Airport in twighlight, both literally and figuratively, for both Ronald Reagan and US Airways.

End of crosspost.
I think that we should all put our political affiliations to the side to remember Mr. Reagan; I am doing that now.

Now, Now, there are probably a lot of air traffic controllers who don't think he was a great president as far as my opinion, I'll just keep it to myself Take care,

Come on Rich,we can go back in history to find fault with all our great presidents. But history has already proven the Gipper to be one of the greats despite mistakes or controversy.

RE: Death of President Reagan

President Ronald Reagan is already being hailed along with President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the two greatest American Presidents of the past century. There was even some mention of adding his face to Mount Rushmore.Put into proper perspective, in his time there were many people who found fault with President Abraham Lincoln, another of our greatest Presidents from another century.

RE: Death of President Reagan

WOW!!, I don't get that, lived thru the Reagan era and no I was not better off than I was four years previous! As great as Franklin D. Roosevelt, for doing what? spending the Soviet Union into bankruptcy?? We can partly thank President Ronald Reagan for Bin Laden!! You want to put Former President Reagan's face on Mt. Rushmore you better add Former President Richard M. Nixon's face as well, cause he opened up talks with China. Also how about Former President Jimmy Carter, didn't his legislations make the world a more peaceful place??? (or did they???) And what about Former President John F. Kennedy?? He kept the nukes out of Cuba. The only thing I can see that former President Reagan did for this country was create a stronger military and I do know this first hand, because I was in the military during his presidency. Other than that, and I'd rate him the same as George Sr. and George Jr. enough said!Take care,
Rich S.

RE: Death of President Reagan

I served in the military also during both the Ford and Carter presidencies. All Carter did was screw up the military and made us much weaker, he was really lame. Having lived through that period as an adult, I can't think of anything he did right. Did Carter make the world more peaceful, hardly, he was a one term president because of his weakness and complete failure as a leader. Was I better off under Reagan than I was 4 years before, heck ya!!!!Back on topic though, your right that one of President Reagan's greatest accomplishments was winning the Cold War and the demise of the Soviet Union, all without needing to fire a shot. Compares right up there with FDR's accomplishments during the depression and WWII which precipitated the Cold War.

Judging from some of the other posts, we had one of the youngsters who was most likely messing their diapers or just an itch in dad's pants at the time "Guns" was president come on and "inform" us of what horrible war, enviromental(take your pick etc) criminal Ronald Reagan was and just basicaly take the opportunity to be the first to p*** on a great man's grave.Gary S

RE: Death of President Reagan

You don't have to be a "young 'un" to disagree with some of President Reagan's policies. Not everything he did or supported was ideal - same as anyone in the office. That said, I think he will be treated quite well as time passes and his contributions are seen from the perspective of history and not partisanship. He certainly merited the title of "Great Communicator," and his optimism and belief in the rightness of the United States was much needed when he came into office. Historians can, and I am sure will, endlessly debate the degree to which his policies changed the country and the world for the better. I'm not qualified to do that, but I'm old enough to still believe that anyone who has held or holds the office deserves our respect for the responsibilities they carry. President Reagan lived a life that by any measure was more amazing than fiction and more productive than most of us could ever hope to be. Although it's a cliche, I think it's no less true to say that "it could only happen in America."Andy

I agree 100% with your assesment of Ronaldus Magnus.
IIRC the screen name attached to the now deleted post is one of the young un trolls who obviously let go with a vitriol filled rant worthy of deletion.
I've no problem with those that disagree with Reagan's policies, heck I was young dumb and full of something at the time myself and thought he was full of it(I think it was Churchill that said "If a man in has twentys is not a liberal then he has no heart, if a man in his forties is a liberal then he has no brain") but I've seen the 200 posts over at Democratunderground.com's forums just gleeful that "the F****** old nazi is dead" I mean I maynot agree with Carter or Clinton policies but if one of them were to go to their reward I would certainly not be celebrating.Gary S
