Jan-17-02, 09:43 PM (EST) 1. "RE: 3d canvas??" I understand that 3D Canvas is one of three 3D modeling programs that are suitable for use with MSTS.And yes, you can use 3D Canvas for creating locomotives, cars, buildings etc for placement within routes. But as it is just a modeling program, it doesn't create routes (you have to use MSTS route editor for that).Does that help?Cheers. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-17-02, 11:18 PM (EST) 3. "RE: 3d canvas??" Sorry, but you must purchase the Pro version in order to have MSTS export. If you don't have the Pro version it will not appear in your list of formats to export. The other possibility, if you do have the Pro version, is that I believe you must select the object you want to export and right-click on it, and select export from there. I think it is like this because you can have a scene with multiple objects in it, but you can only create an MSTS shape file from one object at a time. So, the MSTS export is not available (I don't think) from the program's main menu (the File menu, etc.).troub

Jan-21-02, 11:25 PM (EST) 8. "RE: 3d canvas??" Right click the object, select export, select Microsoft Train Simulator. It exports to a .s file, in Unicode (if MSTS is installed) so it is ready to go from there. You may still want to run ffedit on it though.
I believe the newest version has an MSTS Wizard that creates the .s, .eng, and .sd files, but i have a slightly older version (and work with a great team who are wizards themselves with .eng files!) so i am not sure how it works.------ BUZZ ------

Jan-22-02, 12:14 PM (EST) 9. "RE: 3d canvas??" Also, if you have purchased it and have your registration code, you need to go to the help menu and select "Download LP/Pro Upgrade", or something like that. It'll ask for your registration information, and once you enter that info it'll download the installation for the pro upgrade.troub

Feb-03-02, 07:16 PM (EST) 10. "RE: 3d canvas??" Abacus TM Modeling is a snap to use, and it places the object in the shapes file, the textures file, and makes the Ref file reference. You need an editing program though. I use Photoshop but there are others.

Feb-04-02, 10:59 AM (EST) 11. "RE: 3d canvas??" That's nice, but his question was not about TSM.3DCanvas is a snap to use, also, but the complexity of having to (oh no!) copy and paste is offset by easier, more intuitive, and more powerful modelling tools. Also, the developer has created an MSTS wizard which will, if I remember correctly, create basic .wag and .eng files (you can specify places on the model where you want lights, smoke, etc. and it will put those in, too), animate steam locos, and all kinds of other things. So there ! LOL troub
