Jan-15-02, 01:44 AM (EST) "Train Simulator *Crash* (Hangs)" Hi,I've installed Train Simulator into my computer. Here's my computer configuration:PII 400
64MB Ram
3D Blaster Banshee
Windows 98SE2
Creative Sound Blaster Live! Soundcard
DirectX8.1Before I launch Train Simulator, I would disable all background process that is running so as to free up my memory. The only application left open are systray and explorer. I was able to play the game, but after a short while, while the train is moving, my whole system hangs. I have to press the RESTART button on my CPU. Any ideas? "RE: Train Simulator *Crash* (Hangs)" While your system does meet the minimum system requirements listed on the box, those requirements (as all games box listings) are understated. Realistic minimums for poor performance but still working are 500MHz processor, 16MB GeForce or Voodoo graphics card, 128MB RAM, DirectX8.1. To run the sim well you need at least a 800MHz processor, 32MB or 64MB Geforce 2 or 3 graphics card (all other brands of cards are poo), 256MB+ RAM, DirectX8.1. You might be able to get it to work by updating your video and sound drivers but it's highly likely you will need at least more RAM and a new sound card and a new processor and a new video card at which point you might need a new computer. Some cheaper short term solutions include a $40 or less GeForce 2 MX 200 32MB PCI Video Card and if your computer doesn't use SIMMS but DIMMs (can you even get SIMMs still? doubt it except online) you can get 32-128MB DIMMS for $50 and sometimes much less. Make sure the type matches the existing DIMMS (ie PC100, 133 etc). For now try new drivers and see if that helps at all. Also note if you want to use any sort of addons you need many many free GB hard drive space, and you will always need at least 1 GB free on your primary hard drive for swapfiling (especially with as little RAM as you have)-Andy
