Looking good - wasn't expecting it to be that RR company! However, for train thickos like myself, what is the "1401"?This is the reason I ask - from TA site: "We'll be making every effort to create an accurate representation of the 1401."Cheers!

Jan-14-02, 10:39 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Train Artisan update!!!" Wow! Looks like we'll be having some more nice stock to drive over the up-and-coming Laggan Sub route! It's nice to see some contemporay railroad management that's actually PROUD of their heritage. I mean they changed thier name back to Canadian Pacific Railway form CP Rail, brought back the beaver shield insignia, AND steamed up that hudson! (hmmm...ya don't suppose... well Cyrus and comapny ain't gonna tell anyhow ). Plus they've gained recognition from yet ANOTHER stateside railroad company! Looks like I'm gonna be spending a lotta time in front of the computer over the next few months. Don Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-17-02, 11:00 AM (EST) 16. "RE: Train Artisan update!!!" Any chance of rolling the clock back and putting the superb VIA cars back into the CPR livery? It would seem to be the logical thing to do, and it couldn't be that big a deal (blue stripe -> red stripe) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-14-02, 10:34 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Train Artisan update!!!" Hiya..
1401 is one of our restored F7's. CP has made a major effort to promote corporate history and pride. We currently have a lot of initiatives out to do this.
We have restored and A-B-A set of F7's to original colours/condition and use these as power for our fleet of restored vinateg CP buiness cars. These same F Units and buiness cars are used as the consists for Royal Canadian PAcific Vintage Tours, which is the premier luxury train trip through the Rockies, with not only historic equipment, but also 5-star food and service, plus all the beauty of the Rockies.
We have also restored to new, Hudson 2816, which if all goes well, should be in steam for at least 180 days in 2002, acting as a roving ambassador for CPR. To house these treasures, we have built a retro-styled pavilion on downtown Calgary.
We also have "Station 29" a CP collectables and memoerabilis store.
The TA linkup got started way back when Cy and I were having email conversations about a skinning problem I was having with the new F (my textures was the starting point for the unit you see on the page, Cy's guys improved it way past my original one)
We started chatting about CP content for MSTS, and seeing as I had the only "official" license to release "approved" CP content, we saw some opportunities to make something go. After some negotiations with the marketing folks, we worked out an agreement that should be good for TA, CPR, and the MSTS fans who want quality skins.
We at CP will work with TA to ensure a quality product.. If we don't like it, its not out there until its right..
Hope that helps explain how this got going...cheers

Jan-14-02, 11:03 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Train Artisan update!!!" I sort of had a suspicion it was the CPR! Well done. So were finally going to see a real FP7 to compliment the excellent F7's.

Jan-14-02, 02:56 PM (EST) 9. "Stunning VIA coaches" LAST EDITED ON Jan-14-02 AT 02:59 PM (EST)Well, now that I've downloaded the VIA coaches (modem cooling down as I speak ) I have to say they are amazing. Absolutely fantastic. They're almost perfect... unless you run the observation car at night:Anyone notice anything wrong with it?
Woah! Check out those funky psychedelic interior furnishings!
And not only is it funky, it's also erm, well, translucent!
But nonetheless - still fantastic models that are brilliant for passenger activity fans like myself, and easily one of the best downloads I have ever made!Thank you Train Artisan!
BTW to the guys at TA: is there something wrong with the TA forum? Doesn't appear to have been used since Thursday 10th? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-14-02, 03:15 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Stunning VIA coaches" Interesting. I didn't have the texture thing happen on my copy. I have to agree that they are very good! The only problem I have is what they do to my frame rates I can only run 4 or 5 in a consist and still get acceptable fps. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
