Jan-12-02, 11:19 PM (EST) "XP upgrade " Today i spent 8 hours upgrading to Windoze Xp from Windoze ME..
First of all I have 2 compters a lowly Compaq 300 mzh Celeron and a HomeBrew 500 mzh Pentium,,Both are maxed out as far as possable. I tried to install XP on the 500 mzh 2 weeks ago and it would not install ,even though the Xp compatabily checker program told me it would..so after that disaster and a reinstall of everything,, going back to windoze me, I decided to try it on the lowly Celeron system just for fun... 90 min later i had XP up and running smooth!! loaded MSTS and all software back on...I have a new P4 system on order with all the bells and whistles but it will be a week or more till it arives.. So why you ask did i do all of this work, when a new system is ordered?? because you wont learn anything with out doing it hands on...Just like getting MSTS to run smoothy it takes trial and error .....Just my thoughts for to daypatm41 Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Buy yourself an Apple Mac, you won't be able to run the same software, but you won't be burdened by "Windoze" as you put it. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-13-02, 11:31 PM (EST) 2. "RE: XP upgrade " my latest gripe was that their software compatably program said that XP would install on my system and i always do a clean install so everything was lost in the upgrade that didnt work as they said it would,, so i had to do a clean install of win ME.
yea i burn cd backup of every thing so i really didnt loose anything but my time.... and like i said it was suprizing that xp did install on a old celeron system, but the processer runs to slow to make it worth while... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Doesn't matter what Bill Gates says his software can do, sometimes it just doesn'tQueen Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
