Jan-11-02, 11:16 PM (EST) "Amabilis's latest update." LAST EDITED ON Jan-11-02 AT 11:17 PM (EST)Amabilis came out with an update which will setup and export the object to MTS. For those people who use Canvas Pro, how is it and will this update make it any better than TSM or about the same? People right now are saying that TSM is easier to use. I wonder if this is still the case?Edward K. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I have both myself but prefer TSM even with the latest update to 3DC with it's MSTS Wizard. TSM will export your model to MSTS with the press of a key. It writes all of the files you need to the correct folders except the .eng or .wag files. The MSTS wizard in 3DC will write all of the files including the .eng and .wag files. I can't say how well it does this personally though, since my first and only attempt to use the wizard failed due to something I did wrong that I've yet to determine why it was wrong. My view is that TSM is somewhat more intuitive because it was written specifically to model MSTS objects. 3DC on the other hand is a more feature rich modelling package that covers a broad range of 3d modelling needs and so some of what it has is of little or no use for MSTS purposes and only confuses the learning process.Stew Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-12-02, 04:48 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Amabilis's latest update." I tried 3D Canvas 5.0.5 Pro with MSTS Wizard and went back to 3D Canvas 5.0.4 Pro because 3D Canvas 5.0.5 Pro automatically places object axis in center of each 3D object. The MSTS Wizard is good but it doesn't create files for track sections. I also prefer TSM but it doesn't let me import 3DS files into it. Jeffrey. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"3dCanvas automatically places the frame in the center rather than the bottom" If that is true (I haven't tried) it is most definitely a mistake and one that the programmer would definitely fix quickly. I'll check it out and let him know. Mike

Mike, That is true. I already complained to the programmer when the program was in beta testing but it was too late. He should fix it in the next version of the program. Jeffrey.
