Jun-20-01, 05:09 PM (EST) "Alerter" When I try to start off with the dash9 the alerter always comes on and will continue to do even after it is ack'd. Thusly I cannot go anywhere. The only thing I see out of place is the overspeed window showing 76 even when stopped. What am I doing wrong? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-11-01, 08:03 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Alerter" I don't know if or what you are doing wrong, but I found the alerter to be a pain in the butt. Go into options and disable it. If the alerter box has an X in it, the alerter is enabled. Click the box to remove the X. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-12-01, 03:29 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Alerter" I've also noticed that the Alerter is silent (but flashes) when you're in a station (using the Acela Express), and if you are looking at views 2 3 or 4, you don't hear the Alerter...I've gone into "Emergency" way too many times while I'm admiring these other views during my ride!I'd uncheck it in Options, too.!! Aug-22-01, 03:41 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Alerter" The alerter is made to see if the locomotive engineer is still alive. It will ring until the locomotive engineer does something (ring the bell, activate the horn, change speed, anything). If, after a certain period of time, the locomotive engineer didn't made any move, the emergency brakes are applied and the train cannot move any further. If you don't want the alerter in the game, deactivate it from the option menu. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-22-01, 06:52 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Alerter" I was under the suspicion that there was a bug here too. Now I don't know much about the American alerter system, but most European systems go 'silent' when the train is not moving (or below a certain speed). The MSTS alerter will kick an emergency brake even when you're taking a brake at a stop... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-22-01, 09:35 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Alerter" What the alerter does or does not do is also controlled from within the engine file for each engine. When looking at the values for alerting options in the engine files, 0 means FALSE or OFF, 1 means TRUE or ON.Stevealex Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
