Jan-09-02, 09:11 PM (EST) "CAR DESIGN IDEAS" Hi everyone,I'm new with all this activity on MSTS. Great to be apart of it all. With all the new car designs and paint skeems happening ... has anyone developed a lowbed car for hauling super heavy generators?? Usually sitting low (low belly) to the tracks consisting of anywhere from 3 to 8 axles per side. Anyone come up with this idea yet?? Another question is a design of a snowblower for yard switcher's? Usually consisting of a dual spout? I guess one other design is that of a brick hauler car? Another suggestion if I may ... what about a axle carrier? Looks like a empty logging car with train axles loaded that usually transfers onto trucks? I have ordered my Train Sim Modeler and am looking forward to working with it. If anyone has any information to forward, please do. Looking forward to it.
Cheers from the newest member,

Jan-09-02, 11:29 PM (EST) 1. "RE: CAR DESIGN IDEAS" A search of the download files shows that Rick Lamp did 2 depressed center flatcars, one a stand-alone, another with a ship's propeller as a load.
I haven't seen a switcher-mounted plow yet.
The axle carrier sounds like a good first project for TSM. Use the parts for the SEICO-Boxcar that comes in the package as a start, throw on a deck, texture it, and build a load to suit.
Welcome aboard, and enjoy this site.

Jan-09-02, 11:47 PM (EST) 2. "RE: CAR DESIGN IDEAS" If your getting TSM and looking for something useful to model, I'm in desparate need of and Open auto rack (with and without loads). Look for my posts in "loco design forum" and in the "msts" main forum for why I really need one. Also the flatcar with Wheelsets is an excellent idea and very common too!!!Longhairedwizardbbzak@msn.com Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-13-02, 04:55 PM (EST) 3. "RE: CAR DESIGN IDEAS" I'm sometimes overwhelmed with all the great new "stuff". I'd love to see a Budd RDC RailCar (I think that's what they called them). It would be great for pax ops on my short Dunnenda Valley RR. My present "mixed daily" consists of two GP-9s, a boxcar and two of the heavy weight coaches (on weekends!). A combo baggage-coach would be nice! I really can't see me running the ESE between stations that are only a few miles apart. But I need suitable, economical transport for miners, lumberjacks, mail, and a few pax, like Mrs. O'Malley, who loves to go to "town" to catch the Wal-Mart "bluelighters"! Anybody seen any of these puppies?I have nothing against CP, IC, UP, or SP, but I'd like to see a few more of the pre-60s southeastern liveries. (Can you say Southern Ry?) If I could find a concise, in-sequence procedure for re-skinning, I'd try my hand at it, and stop my whining! You folks are great modelers, but not many are good tech-writers! Anyway, keep it up, and thanks!Lew

Auran released a regional North American locomotive pack a few months ago and they've got 2 RDC's, as well as some other locos that haven't otherwise been available.

I believe that all of the equipment you need is in the file library and can be downloaded! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-14-02, 00:54 AM (EST) 6. "RE: CAR DESIGN IDEAS" 1968-1978 era Open Tri-level auto racks loaded with auto's....? I think not!!! There is a really nice CN open Bi'level with mesh sides and no loads but those are actually modern era although I still gladly use em on my upcoming CR/PC activity package. Of course, if you know something I don't about any open loaded autoracks, then "DO tell"!!!!!LHW Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
