Multiplayers… again – image 1

So, seeing as there haven't been any for the past year or so, I assume interest in Multiplayer sessions has waned? ANyway, just wondering.--------Multiplayers… again – image 2

RE: Multiplayers....again

Be great to have one again I've been having them with a few friends normally every weekend, and my interest has never deteriorated. Can't wait to have another.Be great to set up as a foreman, implement a "Rule 42" that you have to call for permission to pass my work site, just to add some realism

We need to have one, because now we have the CSX MM Sub, that would be a perfect route for a multiplayer. We need to have one on the CSX MM Sub friday or saturday nite.

ya me & Rob play like every weekend...sometimes 3 trips a weekend... And even during the week if we can find time... Might as well play with someone for some enjoyment. We just need a half decent RTC that really knows his stuff.... I would be a RTC for the Laggan sub sometime. I am sure Andrew Pickell would also give a few hours to practice being a RTC I could probably also try for FBL3, but some of the other routes I really dont know to good...I am always up for being a train or MOW.CWChris Wilson

The entire thing is "theater of the mind", if you will. How it works is that you get a voice client (like TeamSpeak or Roger Wilco) and get together on a TS/RW server. Everyone's previously agreed as to what route is run, and then you basically play radio games for the duration. The dispatching system is, inherently, the train order. You'll never actually "see" the other trains, because you're still in the single player game. However, you'll have to interact with them, because the other players are driving their trains at the same time as you. For example: The dispatcher will tell me that I've got to wait in a siding until I get more authority to pass from say the Federation Phaser Company back onto whatever main that connects to on the NEC, because I'm waiting for the track to be clear. Is the track in use on my game? No. But it is in the jointly-imagined game, because someone else is already there on their machine. It's a definite kludge of a way to go about it, but I must say that I always thoroughly enjoyed them, despite not knowing a whole lot about radio communication protocol. (And thanks to the folks who let me use C&O, EL, New Haven, and Penn Central trains on modern-day routes.)

Thanks for the comments guys. It actually does really help me out in my schooling.I would consider doing another one and I like the idea of having a mixture of trains and foreman.I would like to do one on a Sunday afternoon...possibly April 4th?If you are interested or have a better date in mind drop me a line at apickell@rrmail.com

RE: Multiplayers....again

All right, I'll bite. From the name 'multi-player', it sounds like connecting several people's games/sims together to run a joint session. How do you do it? which software? Is a cable modem okay? What do I do once I'm 'in'? Are folks forgiving if I break some rule or other (through ignorance, not malice)?Saw posts a few months back advertising the date/time, but never got on. As far as 'operations' go, I'm a bit 'green' so would that be a problem?Willing to try most anything at least once....

Its not as exciting as that. It takes a bit of imagination. We all communicate through teamspeak or Roger Wilco using our Microphones. We all are on the same route and report to an RTC (several depending on route size and parts). Theres much more to it but its a bit much to type out. It does take alot of organizing however.Multiplayers… again – image 22~The only way to ship~
