Well since Kelly's showing off the Q flag with Paul Fowler's SD 40s I suppose it's only fair to let rip with some CGW pics. Westbound between Stockton IL and just west of the Winston tunnel on Mike Deming's CGW. I've been playing with these CGW SD40's since I've got em. Thanks Paul It's great to be able to run a CGW freight with proper six axle power instead of having to make do with a -2. Pic 1 404 and three other SD40's are just west of Stockton after making a crew change pic 2 Elizabeth IL rolling under the IL Rt. 20 bridge pic 3 The last locomotives owned by the CGW cross a small river just west of Elizabeth pic 4 With the Winston tunnel's east portal just ahead the hogger has cut the throttle and is switching to dynamic braking for the grade down into the Missisippi River valley. pic 5 Having reached the summit of the grade(just inside the tunnel)404 and her sisters drift out the west portal of the Winston tunnel passing by the closed fanhouse and begin the decent down the grade that was the main reason for her owners decision to go with six axle road units in 1966Gary S

HEy mike, Ya beat me to it!!! LOL. I still haven't gotten that far out on the CGW. Nice shots!!! I wish I would have gotten to see the "Great Weedy" alot more than I did. All that was left by the time I knew what it was was the line from Chicago to Dubuque. Then the CNW kept pulling it back. It was always cool to go to ROchelle on old US51 and cross the main and see the searchlight for the diamond in Holcomb. (always yellow)By the time I was old enough to drive, it was all gone. sigh......THe only units I got to see were switchers, F units, and the SD40's in Belvdere. Thanks for the memories!
BTW Mike, I had to delete the CGW route after a windows burp (along with several others). Any chance of a re-upload? Or even a CD of it?Now that we have CGW power, I need a route to run on. Contact me at niceoneace@aol.com
Kelly Actually it's Gary, (this forum's other raving CGW foamer) I was crediting Mike for the route. Heck you got to see more than me,other than stray power mixed in freights running through Palatine by the time I was able to drive the Weedy was still somewhat intact from Maywood to St Charles and driving for a living through the 80's early 90's(still drive for a living just my job now doesn't take me into CGW teritory anymore) got to watch it retract further and further.Gary S
