Jan-06-02, 11:12 AM (EST) "Newbie Question - Organizing rolling stock & loco files" Is ther a way to organize all the boxcars for instance, into a folder so they will appear as a category in Consist Editor instead of all freight cars being in one folder?
Thanks, John. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Newbie Question - Organizing rolling stock & loco files" As far as i know...it's not possible. You would figure MSTS could at least put them in alphabetical order? The consist editor reads the "Engine file name"for loco's,and "Wag file names" for rolling stock.Sorry, but the only way this could be done is if a computer guru could make a "Utility" that would do what your looking for.LOL Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Newbie Question - Organizing rolling stock & loco files" LAST EDITED ON Jan-11-02 AT 12:09 PM (EST)Hi,You cannot sort by folder, but you can use the Name parameter in the .eng and .wag files.Engines have their Name parameter nearly at the bottom of the .eng file, you can alter this, the Name will appear in the Explore route list and in the Consist Editor..wag files usually don't have a name parameter, you can add one nearly at the top of the file, like this
SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0D0t______Wagon ( eriebox1
comment( Double door box car )
Name("EL Box Car")
Type ( Freight )
WagonShape ( eriebox1.s )
Size ( 3m 3m 17.94m)
comment( 27.657t empty, 98.163t full )
Mass ( "98.163t" )
WheelRadius ( 33in/2 )
See the line with the red font. .wag and .eng files are Unicode files. Open them with Wordpad or a Unicode sensitive Editor.Dick van den Hoven

I waited until recently, and having downloaded everything and the kitchen sink, it gets to be a pain in the butt building a train when their 5000 different versions on how the engine or car was name in the wag/eng.John Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
