I've 1 GB of memory installed on Asus P4C800-E motherboard with ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB. What is the optimal graphic aperture size selected in BIOS in order to smooth somehow the jerky play of MSTS.Thanks.Adam
64 or 128MB is recommended by most card manufacturers. Many people make the mistake of setting it too high because they figure their card can "handle" it. Try either and decide which performs better, or run some benchmarking software for hard proof. But don't get excited thinking it will solve the stutter, as that is a hard drive caching issue.-Jeff
I believe Cacheman from Outertech does a pretty good job of reducing the stutters if you have a "reasonable" sized machine....IMHO a Reasonable Size for running MSTS AthlonXP/2400 or higher/P4 2.8 with hyperthreading or higher 512mb of memory or more GeForce/Ti4200 w/128mb or ATI equivelent or Better Video card 7200RPM Hard disk preferrably with 8mb of cache or more...Chuck Schneider Chief Cook, Bottle Washer and (Virtual) CEO
>I believe Cacheman from Outertech does a pretty good job of >reducing the stutters if you have a "reasonable" sized >machine.... > Well, I selected 256MB since I had a feeling that 128MB resulted with more pausing. I'll try Cachman XP 1.1 with EndItAll 2, but I'm rather sceptic. Interestingly, the core engine of MSTS has more to do than simple textures processing, since I've installed Delta Force Black Hawk Down which has very dense and complicated graphics, but the gameplay is very smooth, the same is with Trainz 2004.Cheers,Adam
