Jan-04-02, 08:46 PM (EST) "Easter eggs gone rotten?" Heh... I was just looking for something else on the Asus web site and look what eggs publishers are trying to unload by bundling them with Asus cards:------------------------------------------------------------
ASUS AGP-V8200 GeForce3 Deluxe is now bundled with Messiah, Sacrifice, StarTrek - New Worlds, Ulead VideoStudio, and 3D Glasses.
------------------------------------------------------------With the exception of maybe Sacrifice that sounds like a lot of stuff I would rather install in my toilet than on my HD.-Andy

Jan-05-02, 08:14 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Easter eggs gone rotten?" It may be, actually that's the one thing on there I'm not familiar with... But Messiah and STNW are two of the doodiest games ever made. I think they may have sold 2 or 3 copies in store except to those Trekies who had to get every ST title ever made no matter how badly made it was. The same phenomenon happens with Star Wars games too... There must be more free copies of Rogue Squadron and the Battle for Naboo out there bundled with assorted hardware then there ever was copies to buy.-Andy

I'm one of those Star Wars fans that buys every Star Wars item available, my collection is very extensive. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-06-02, 08:26 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Easter eggs gone rotten?" Well... I'm glad I did something right. I bought it. Not because I'm a trek fan but because I was going through a RTS fad at the time. I enjoyed the show when it was on (Next Generation) but never seen much of the other series. That was a classic case of underresearching a product. It got horrible reviews from everyone and I should have seen those first. It's only redeeming feature was ... hmm... I can't think of any. Even the graphics were dull and uninspiring. There have been some great trek games made (Starfleet Command rocked. Just like the paper and counters original it was based on). Elite Force was fun but short. I never played any of the "Academy" games but they were reportedly somewhere between the quality of Starfleet Command and the old arcade vector graphics Star Trek. Reviewers bashed those Star Trek strategy games... I can't remember their names. I think one was called Armada.Galactic Battlegrounds looks pretty nice, certainly better than Force Commander. I just wish the developers had been more original. IT's one thing to use another game's engine (AOE2) but to change it soooo little when it's an old rigid engine like AOE2 and you get a game that's easy on the processor but leaving you feeling like you've already played it before... Talk about laziness. I'll probably get it though, once it's not $50. Just to wash the taste of Force Commander out of my mouth. I'm not paying full price for a game that is 3 years old though. It may have just come out but due to the engine and lack of innovation it is already 3 years old. When I do get it I'll play skirmishes that continually allow me as various forces to smash every force from the Episode 1 movie, especially Gungan. When's someone gonna make a FPS based on Boba Fett?? Or a decent sequel to Tie Fighter (the best Lucasarts game of all time)?-Andy
