RE: MTS and laptop

Hi; I know this is not an answer to your question, but I saw a news item where Dell is coming out with a laptop specificfally designed for gamers. If you can find the specs of the new laptop, maybe you will have some ideas as to requirements.Cheers Chuck F.

RE: MTS and laptop

I think you laptop will do fine all you need to look at the box of the games, they will tell you the minimmum requirements to run the game. Your processor is fast and the memory is plenty, and the graphics will do fine, be sure you have plenty of hard drive space. If you are serious gamer you will need a high end laptop designed for serious games, Two companies makes those laptops are Ailenware and Voodoo. Two days ago I was watching TechTV Tech Live talked about Dell laptop, Dell has a laptop for gamers. These laptops are pricey they range from $2,000 to $3,000.
I think your laptop will do fine.
I do not own a laptop just build a Desktop PC.Blazer26

Thanks, I saw the new dell laptop and its kinda big for a laptop. I'm better of going with a desktop then spending alot for that laptop which is BIG, cant cal it a laptop. Not like I will spend alot of money on a laptop. Thanks

MTS and laptop – image 1

Mike,I’m using a, now year old, Sony Vaio GRZ630. 2.4 Ghz Intel P4, 512 SDRam, 40 GB drive, CD-RW, DVD. Pretty much a top end machine. As we know, laptops are built for business use. Spreadsheets, word processing, etc. And I use it for that, but I Sim on it as well. The ATI graphics card holds up pretty well. But it does hesitate now and then (choppy video). The biggest problem that a laptop has to deal with is heat. If you find that the laptop shuts down unexpectedly after a period of time ( 90 - 120 minutes ), it’s not dissipating the heat. I use an external fan and…, it’s all good!!Best luck, Bob

RE: MTS and laptop

If your are looking for a laptop made for gaming then you need to check out www.alienware.com. I am currently deployed over seas with out my train sim and have decided that as much as I travel I am going to have to invest on one when I get home. It's really hard to do any work on objects or routes when you are away from your computer a alot.
