I just watched Silver Streak and its a great train movie. Did they keep any of the cars in Amroad livery at the end or did they all get turned back into canadian livery? Was that a real F7 that smashed through the station at the end?
i'm sure they floated around the cp system for a short time in amroad, but probably not for long. as for the fp7 crashing into central station, that was a model sequence. you don't actually think they'd crash a real train into a train station for a movie? I know that scene in which George gets whacked by the signal tower appears in the intro for The Fall Guy. Too bad they didn't shoot any scenes in the Vistadome.

I remember watching an AMC special several years ago about the role of trains in Hollywood. Gene Wilder and "Silver Streak" director Arther Hiller were featured, discussing "Silver Streak" and other films. Hiller talked about the crash scene--he said that they attempted to do it with models, then with a "blue screen"--but that none of the results were satisfactory, so they finally threw in the towel and did it "full size." Here's a photo that I found of CP Rail FP7 #4070, the lead locomotive featured in the film.Andy

No, it was not a real F7 crashing at the end.It was a full-size mockup, rather crappy looking at that, and it was filmed in an aircraft hangar in Burbank Airport, California.
