Dec-30-01, 03:31 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" LAST EDITED ON Dec-30-01 AT 03:33 PM (EST)I don't have shots of trains "in the field" and "on the go" but here are some I did take...
A Virginia Railway Express commuter train pulling into Manassas Station (Virginia).
Two AEM7s (one in the Amtrak paint scheme, and one in the Acela Regional paint scheme) lead a train into Washington Union Station (Washington, D.C.). (Sorry the picture is so blurry.)
A Genesis locomotive pulls out of Philadelphia station, while a Metroliner waits for its next assignment. (Philadelphia, from the window of an Acela Regional train.)
Strasburg Railroad #90, a 2-10-0, thunders by (at about 20 mph) back toward the Strasburg depot. (Pennsylvania)Mike Karlik

Dec-31-01, 12:32 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" Oh, in case anyone is interested, the locomotives in the last two pictures (in the last one you can see them more clearly), are the IC's "regular" cab SD70's. They have the cube-shaped nose as opposed to the angular one featured in the SD70 models created so far.troub

Dec-31-01, 04:43 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" Hi,Can anybody identify these engines? I mean what type they are?
These are cutouts from the free desktop themes that you can find at: http://www2.uop.edu/~ethomas/themes/index.html
There are more railroads then BNSF, UP and SP to find there.

Dec-31-01, 05:47 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" Hey.Here are your answersPic 1. Those are Dash 9-44CW, the same ones used in Microsoft Train Simulator but in BNSF's Heritage 1 Paint Scheme.Pic 2. Those are SD9043MACs, the 43 stands for 4300HP instead of the 6000HP locomotive which are numbered in the 8500 series. Th 8500 series locomotives have been put on hold and UP has been converting them into SD9043MACs do to Prime Mover problems reguarding the 710-H motor.Pic 3. Those are AC4000CW, in the SP "Speed Lettering" Scheme, they are basicly Dash 9-44CWs but with AC traction and a longer electrical box on the Conductors side. SP AC4400 are normally 3 digits while the Dash 9-44CWs are numbered in the 8100 series.Hope this helps.Brian E. Bundridge

Dec-31-01, 06:39 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" Hi, Thanks, Brian for the clarification.
Have you already the BNSF picture? The one from where I cut out pic 1? It is a very nice picture somewhere in the mountains, where? Rather big, a bmp of about 2Meg, but I think worth downloading it.Dick van den Hoven Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-31-01, 03:20 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" No, Not yet I have several pics of those from my trips to Stevens Pass. I fact, I got a solid Warbonnet set...though it wasn't all Santa Fe, it was a great catch and looks very good in the snow. I might have to take a pic of a pic since I don't have a scanner.Brian E. Dec-31-01, 05:42 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" Here's one I took in Eugene, OR back in 1978 (not '75). It was quite a rare bird and I totally unexpected to see it.

It's an ALCO DL-600B. This was on it's last legs and was used for hump-power along with a Century C-628. There was one other "Aligator" over at the roundhouse that was being canabalised for parts.
Then there was the BN!Portland, Oregon, Hoyt St. Roundhouse, 1978
I was all over these F's like a cheap suit!
Freindly Hostlers allowed me free access to these beauties, and I thank them!
Well, I've taken enough band-width,Cheers!Tim Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-03-02, 11:46 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" i took this picture of the steamtown train ride out of scranton PA. dickson city. this was taken about 10 years ago in dickson city. the highlight of that ride was the nicholson bridge, unfortunatly the ride no longer goes this way due to track rights or something. not the best quality picture but i was only a little shutterhappy kid back then . i have a few more of them too if anyones interested.

Jan-04-02, 03:10 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Real Trackside Pix :)" cool pixs. i live and work in brazil. recently took passanger train from curutiba to the coast through some cool mountain pass. go to my yahoo photo page, http://photos.yahoo.com/skyrat to see the pics i took of the trip. it is a narrow guage, 1 meter wide; lots of bridges and tunnels. the route is used daily to transport ag products and cars for export, steepest grade a little over 10 percent. the album is called "curutibe train ride."enjoy.SkyRat Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
