Train Fest 2004: Big Steam in the East – image 1

Ohio Central's two big steamers and Pere Marquette 1225 will be travelling to Dennsion, Ohio from July 30 to August 1 for Train Fest at the Dennison Railroad Museum. There will be 1 hour long excursions every day, as well as trains bringing people in from Columbus and Philadelphia (via Pittsburgh). Click here for details.
This will be a rare occassion to see big steamers running in East. Those of you in the eastern United States and Canada should check this out. New Yorkers can take the train from Philly (I'm sure there will be a connecting train from New York), drive, or fly. People in Pittsburgh: the train to Dennison will be stopping in your city from Philadelphia.
NOTE: NONE OF THESE LONG DISTANCE RUNS HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED YET. CHECK THE LINK ABOVE FOR INFORMATION. ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ON THOSE TRAINS WILL BE POSTED THERE.

I'll have to find out just when 1225's making the move down to Dennison, because the TSBY mainline is literally about a hundred yards from my apartment now...RDF

I wonder if the power for the Philly-Dennison train is those PRR E8As #s 5711 and 5809?
I'll try to fit this event into my schedule............

Unfortunately, it could just be a chartered Amtrak train, but who knows. Since I have a summer job that ends right on July 30th, I'm probably not going. The catch is, hopefully, I will be able to go to the NRHS convention over 4th of July. That summer job is not yet confirmed, but neither is the Philly train. Hopefully Steamtown can send one steamer out to Dennison and pull the train from Philly, but that is unlikely.

Or the Strasburg Railroad can send ex-N&W 475(or 2-10-0 90) to pull it!

Actually, lucky guess. The two PRR E8s are to pull a special train from Philly-Dennison. http://www.trainfestival2004.com/prrpress.html

I live in Columbus and I'm defenently going, I don't care what pulls me there, or even if I have to drive , but you can be shure I will get plenty of pictures.
I'm glad to see that this is gonna happen, last I was on the Ohio Central page the Steam Program had been suspended.

That's interesting, I would have thought that they would use there new pair of F40s for the columbus run. Looks like the way to go for me, although it dosn't say where in columbus it will leave from. I'll be there wether by train or by car though, you can bet your last buck on that.Paint Shop, Yonder Locomotive Works.
