Dec-23-01, 11:38 AM (EST) "The Community" I hardly bother with billboards. Especially those to do with games and sims. I was surprised to read Mr Murphy's comments on the way the community behaves and if this is what the MSTS community is then we don't deserve trainsim.com. I have DLd loads of stuff over the years. For Grand Prix Legends, CFS and MSFS and now MSTS. I'm over the moon to get these things for free. Some are real dogs, like the boxcar I uploaded Others are absolute peaches. What the heck, it's a dog. SO bin it, or improve it. The one amazing thing about MSTS is that it is so easy to amend stuff. OK you need to spend time poking around, and perhaps find a tool or two to help, but you can tweak it to your hearts content. And there's folks here to help. Community, see?So OK there is a glitch in one of the stock freight .wag file, so that the handbrake didn't work. OK the lights are in the wrong place, OK the route doesn't have those grades. Yes there are warts all over MSTS. The alternative is it would have been released about now (just in time for Christmas!), but we've had it for this long and I betya MS is watching the billboards to see what is going on. PLUS, there are nice people out there who already found and sorted these problems. Community, see?I used to be a Software Engineer before I retired. We used to agreed with some customers to send it out live INSTEAD of the Beta 2 test. Just because many opinions on how the glitches were to be fixed (if any) were better than 1 proggy's ideas. The community benefits. That is why communities are there. For the common good, and flaming someone cos you don't like his work achieves nothing. The ingratitude is just down right self centred. Hopefully these people mend their ways or they'll stress themselves into an early grave. Hmmmmmm. And another thing, I could not believe that folk are pointing fingers at Train Artisan. Jeez. If you don't recognize pure gold when you see you need yer head read. And it's for free!!If people are worried about the length of time their (TA) stuff takes (which I am not) then stump up some bucks for the FDNY or NYCSHS. It's amazing how many people just took the trains and ran. Clkever eh? I stumped up. They were worthy causes anyway. And because I did, TA have sent me the new USRA 4-8-2 locos early. Three of 'em, in different liveries and peaches they are too. Hear that lonesome whistle blow! Community, see?C'mon folks, critise yeah, but not just for the sake of it.
