Well on my second trip out, me and my engr. was bs'n and the subject came up of the 170 more sd70m/s that the UP is ordering. Now this is unconfirmed and is just a rumor, but it was stated that the 170 more coming will have standard control stands such as the N&S has (which engrs prefer over UP's). Anyone else hear this? But as said this is just a rumor.

If you're gonna do it, do it with precision.

Yes, UP is ordering 175 more SD70Ms although I hear they are sticking to the standard analog desktop stand, but with UP, you just never know.AustinSounder Commuter Rail

I seem to recall from somewhere else that UP was going back to the upright control stands...finally listening to the engineers. Can't recall WHERE I heard it, but this is the second time I remember seeing it.Whether there's any truth to it I suppose we'll have to wait and see.Blake Harris

Well, the UP is ante's up for more SD70M's. I didnt know if it was 170 or 175. Thats why a lot of SD40-2's are running around in the 7800 and 7900 series. As far as upright control stands go, only time will tell, but im sure it would be welcomed bu engineers.

Yeah same rumor here on the Sunset Route, talking with a hogger after he had to wait for the UPS train in Vail, said UP was in a slight power shortage and was contemplating more power. The world is a vampire, sent to drain. Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames.

According to Trains magazine, its not a rumour. If you walk into the locomotive assembly building in London, you should see the first 5 being assembled, unless EMD are late! As long as they have flares, wings and the flag, I'm happy! More "4000hp SD40-2's" >Mike Forster<

Sounds like more SD40-2's and tunnel motors for regional railroads or rent-a-wreck companies in the coming year then.-----------------------------
